James has been guiding street art and laneway tours in Melbourne for nine years. He started noticing patterns. Thursday evening tours filled faster than he expected. Sunday morning tours, which he'd always assumed were his strongest, were quietly being beaten by Friday afternoons.

He adjusted. Revenue went up without adding more tours.

"I'd been running this business for nine years based on gut feeling," he says. "Turns out the data was more interesting than my instincts."

Enforce your group size. The temptation is always to add one more person. Resist it. The experience quality is the product. Protect it.
